Google to Abandon Older BrowsersPosted by Chris Godwin in Untagged |
Google is to phase out support for older versions of web browsers. People still using older versions of IE, Firefox, Chrome and Safari need to update their web browser by August 1st, 2011.
Google cited that improvements were needed in order to fully utilise the potential of the latest technologies, such as HTML5 , as the main reason for the switch. In addition, they have been at pains to explain "that the new browsers are more than just a modern convenience, they are a necessity for what the future holds."(-Venkat Panchapakesan, vice president of engineering at Google).
We fully support this decision by Google, as a website design company we are constantly trying to improve our offering and unfortunaletly potential clients/existing customers are not able to properly view our work while using dated versions of browsers.
